The boss of a Suffolk brewer has been commended in an awards ceremony designed to celebrate sustainable and environmentally friendly business practices.

Chief executive of Adnams Dr Andy Wood was given the Special Award for Environmental Responsibility at the First Responsible Capitalism Awards 2017.

The award marked his “commitment to leading the way in sustainable business”, through efforts to reduce the company’s carbon footprint, minimise waste, and reduce water and energy consumption.

He was presented with the award by the Rt Hon Lord
Judge at a ceremony at the House of Lords, attended by business leaders and parliamentarians.

Mr Wood said: “Leading a business committed to doing the right thing is a privilege, and it’s a testament to the great team we have at Adnams.”

He added: “Ensuring sustainability is an integral part of what we do.”
