A Wymondham-based business boss said the dualling of the A11 had driven a significant upturn in fortunes for the firm in the last six months.
Colin Wright, founder and managing director of Britannia Safety and Training, said since the final stretch of dualling was completed last year, the business had “stepped up to another level” with turnover up £300,000 to £750,000.
Further investment had also been allocated to add new training rooms and canteen amenities to existing facilities, to accommodate increasing numbers.
He said with faster access to the county via the A11, construction training services specialist, has seen an increase in enquiries and customers from Cambridge, Huntingdon, and Essex, coupled with confidence returning to the construction industry.
The firm was one of the first to move into purpose built premises on the Wymondham Business Park, exactly 10 years ago this month, when the business consisted of just Mr Wright and two part-time administrators.
In 2011 it moved to new and bespoke premises on the same business park and over the past four years the company has doubled the number of trainees passing through the door on MEWP specific courses from 3,000 to 6,000 and now employs four administrators, two full-time and 15 subccontracted trainers. The company has invested heavily in the facilities at Wymondham and also works out of satellite offices across the UK, to provide services to their national clients.
“The health, safety and training industry is really vibrant at the moment as it comes out of a long period of a recession,” he said. “Add this to the opening up of the A11 at the end of 2014, the lift it has given our business has probably been at its most impressive since we moved to the business park 10 years ago and moving forward it can only get better.”
