It was hardly World Wrestling Entertainment, but pupils were delighted to see their teachers transform into wrestlers at King's Lynn Academy.

Two teachers laid the smack down on each other in a tag team match which also featured two professional wrestlers.

The might of Falling Starr Wrestling Champion Jimmy Starr teamed up with the head of humanities 'The Hurricane' Aaron Blows against the dastardly villains Furio and masked wrestler El Techo, best known to pupils as design technology head Paul Aldous.

In a match so ferocious the top rope of the ring snapped off its hinges, humanities put one over design technology when The Hurricane pinned El Techo to the delight of the crowd.

Principle Craig Morrison said: 'We kept it as a surprise only four people knew about this and the ring was set up overnight.

'We wanted to treat the pupils for all the great work they have put in this year and it really went with our heroes and villains project we have been doing all year which is a key theme in wrestling.

'It was a great laugh, but I doubt our two teachers will take up wrestling as a day job.'

Pupils and teacher took to the match like a proper wrestling crowd, cheering for the good guys and booing the Furio and El Techo who hurled abuse at the crowd.

The teachers were trained by Jimmy Starr for the last six weeks ahead of the match, and while they are unlikely to be the next Hulk Hogan, Starr was impressed with the effort they put in.

He said: 'It's not an easy thing to do training to be a wrestler, especially in such the short time they had, so they did very well and have been awesome in the progress they have made.'

Jimmy Starr who wrestles for the Falling Starr Wrestling promotion based in Norfolk announced post match that in September he would be running a wrestling school at King's Lynn academy.

He said: 'Any kid who is interested in wrestling, maybe would like to consider wrestling as a career, and travel around the world they can start here from the start of next term.'
