A beautiful sunny October morning greeted players and spectators alike as the County Cups took precedent this weekend and it proved to be a mixed bag of results for the Norwich Sunday League sides.

In the Sunday Senior Cup Schoolhouse went through to the third round after winning a difficult looking tie, 2-1 at El Sol, a fixture that was a re-run of the 2015 final. Riverside Rovers also faced a tough fixture but came back from King's Lynn with a 3-2 victory under their belts as they won at Englands Hope. Rovers were a goal down with a minute to go, but found the equaliser and then went through after extra time.

Acle Rangers produced an impressive performance, winning 5-0 at DE FC and the same can be said for morning Division One leaders Hewett OB's who won by the same score at Poringland Wanderers.

Sprowston Wanderers put six past Rose Athletic to progress and there was a 5-2 home win for Trimingham Pilgrims over Yarmouth side Memphis Belton. Horsford United also faced costal opposition; winning 4-2 at Bohemians and Brooke FC were yet another team to score five as they beat Drayton Dazzlers. Briston went through after hitting 10 against Real Ale Madrid

In the Sunday Junior Cup, Old Catton U19 suffered their first loss of the season, beaten 6-1 by Silver Fox, whilst Hempnall were 3-1 winners at East Tuddenham. MC Rovers are into the next round after a 4-1 win against Hethersett Ath Res and Harleston Town were narrow 3-2 winners at home to AFC Norwich.

Eaton Park Corinthians found the journey to King's Lynn side fruitless as they lost 7-2 at Gaywood Ath and Qube are in the hat for the next round after beating Easton 5-1. Long Stratton also powered their way through to round three, scoring a dozen as they beat fellow U19 side Reepham Town.

Norman Wanderers A had a very good 5-2 win at Clenchwarton after extra time and Rose Athletic Res went through after they won at Heigham Park Rangers. FC Viking went out after losing 5-2 at home to Norfolk Terrier, whilst there was a superb win for Nelson Athletic who came from behind to beat CSKA Emneth Res 6-5 aet. Woodton United, currently bottom of Division Four, will be very happy with their 4-2 win over Dynamo of Division three, but AG Athletic will be disappointed after going down 6-4 at home to West Lynn Ath.

In Norwich Sunday League action, Longdale Rovers are the new leaders of Division One after winning 4-1 (Joel Baldwin, Steffen Bassett, Lloyd Nobbs, Bradley Warr) at Norman Wanderers Res, whilst Hellesdon moved up to third spot with a 5-1 home win over Windmill Wanderers.

Marlborough did their goal difference a power of good by scoring nine at Hethersett Athletic and are now one of three clubs on 12 points at the top of Division Two.

The one game played in Division Four went the way of Cellar House, 5-1 at Sporting Iceni, whilst in Division Five, Ashill were 4-0 winners over FC Viking Res.

In the U19s Cringleford missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Old Catton as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Hethersett Ath.

The same could be said of Scole United whose game at Acle Rangers failed to produce a goal.

Hellesdon did produce goals however, Tinashe Madzimure scoring four of the six as they saw off Mulbarton Wanderers in impressive style.
