Norwich Swan Swimming Club's most successful swimmer Laura Marzolini will begin her bid for glory at the British Gas Swimming Championships today.

The 15-year-old, who has been swimming with Norwich Swan under the watchful eye of head coach John Digby since the tender age of 10, is competing in the 50-metre breaststroke today.

The championships are being held at the new Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow and are doubling up as Commonwealth Games trials. Marzolini will also take part in 100m breaststroke preliminary round on Sunday.

Marzolini, currently ranked second in both the 50m and 100m breaststroke in the Amateur Swimming Association 16 years age group, is the first Norwich Swan member to ever qualify for the British Championships. She is also the only swimmer from Norfolk to have achieved the qualifying grade this year.

The youngster is currently a multiple county champion at both junior and senior level and has broken various county and regional records. She is also the current eastern region age group champion at 100m and 200m breaststroke, as well as a national age group qualifier.
