Steven Naismith admitted he is loving life under Norwich City’s head coach Daniel Farke after scoring in Friday’s 3-1 German tour finale against DSC Arminia Bielefeld.

Naismith was deployed in a central midfield role alongside Mario Vrancic but burst forward to open the scoring in the first half.

Cameron Jerome and Nelson Oliveira sealed a second friendly win in three days for Farke’s squad, who will fly back to England in buoyant mood.

“It is very good. I love to learn and I am definitely learning a lot from the manager,” said the Scottish international.

“The practices we have are very different to ones we have worked under in the past. It is a clean slate for all the boys. We are getting pushed about in different formations and positions but I feel we have adapted well and everyone is now pushing to be in that starting XI.

“We have been working hard and even on the day of the games we have had a session. We should be capable of doing it and we have shown we can. This week was really about getting to know what the manager wants in terms of our set up without the ball. I feel we have taken that on board very quickly.”

Naismith felt the Canaries were full value for a victory against a host side having their final warm up game before the Bundesliga Two season begins in a week.

“It has been a really hard week with a couple of games in the mix,” he said.

“We have done a lot of good work on the training pitch as well and it may prove to be an important week. This game was a much tougher test than the other day. We know they are capable in terms of knocking it about and knocking it more direct. We also knew their season starts next week. There were a few things the manager wanted to work on and everything he is doing is new to us so of course there will be mistakes but the manner we controlled the game was very pleasing.”

Naismith accepts it has been a summer of change at Carrow Road with the likes of Graham Dorrans and Jonny Howson headline departures and seven new faces.

“Not only has there been a transition in terms of the personnel but with this manager and the style he wants us to play,” he said. “That makes for a lot of variables. The proof will be in the pudding when the season starts.”
