Our Norwich City correspondent Paddy Davitt delivers his verdict from Ashton Gate

1. Alex who? - Plenty of angst around Pritchard's departure. Rightly so. When fully fit, as good as any in the Championship on his day.

But Pritchard is the past. James Maddison is the present.

His eighth goal of the campaign was another stunning strike. This time on his left, as he cut inside and collected Ivo Pinto's short pass before crashing an unerringly accurate strike beyond Frank Fielding to spark bedlam amongst the travelling support with the perfect view behind the goal.

No doubt it might have an unwanted side effect and more gossip column inches.

For now, just savour the Coventry-bred talent doing his stuff in the yellow and green. Top drawer.

2. That was the week that was - Daniel Farke cut a weary figure at his pre-match press call.

That might have had something to do with batting away a prolonged inquisition on why City had opted to cash in on Pritchard and send Yanic Wildschut to Cardiff on loan.

Some might argue under the new style structure, those questions should be getting answered higher up the football food chain.

Nevertheless, Farke cut a diplomatic figure in trying to explain the sound financial reasoning and football logic underpinning those decisions.

Add in Tom Trybull's untimely back injury and a testing trip to the West Country looked beyond them.

But this was another gutsy collective effort with a counter attacking punch that evoked memories of those wins at Brammall Lane, Middlesbrough and Ipswich.

3. Firing Gunn - The Manchester City loanee will do well to better his stoppage time block from Josh Brownhill for as long as he is between the sticks.

The England Under-21 international flung himself from a different post code when Brownhill looked set to slot six yards out in the dying moments.

It was the one genuine moment of alarm and it prompted a number of his team mates to embrace the young keeper in the aftermath. On such moments, big, big players stand up. Five unbeaten, four clean sheets. Take a bow.

Derby County and Fulham the latest in a ever growing list.

Poll many Norwich fans right now and you get the sense they would cash in if the numbers are right. One goal in the last seven is a negative number.

The chance missed towards the end of the first period was the mark of a man with zero confidence.

Ivo Pinto tried to console his compatriot as he trooped off at half-time. City's top brass have already made one big call in the last few days.

They may have another to make between now and the end of the window.

5. Deep water - Jamal Lewis has taken to the senior ranks with aplomb.

But this was a steep learning curve at times. Particularly early in the second half when Bristol upped the ante.

Already booked, Lewis produced a couple of mistimed lunges. Timm Klose made a point of delivering a soothing word or two of reassurance.

Such has been Lewis' masterful elevation you have to remind yourself he is still such a raw, precocious talent.

To come through this test will have accelerated his development.
