Martin Olsson feels he is getting back to his best for Norwich City, thanks to some added left-sided protection from Bradley Johnson.

The former Leeds man has successfully featured on the left of City's midfield in recent weeks, giving Olsson more confidence to get forward from full-back.

The Swedish international made a bad start to the season after being sent off in the 1-0 loss at Wolves on the opening day of the season but has been a key part in the Canaries' recent improvements, winning two and drawing one of their last three matches.

'I think I've always had the licence to get forward but with the way we are playing now, there is more chance for me to get forward than before so for my part that good, I like it,' the 26-year-old said.

'He (Johnson) is one of those that works hard and he also comes in the pitch a lot so that makes me go forward, but I think we've been working good together defensively and attacking.

'He's been scoring a few goals and has been playing well.

'Since I've been playing here I've really not had anybody playing in front of me for a long time – there's always been a lot of changes, but I've been playing with Brad for a few games now so that's good.'

Olsson would seem a certainty to start at left-back when Millwall arrive at Carrow Road today, with Javier Garrido out with a groin strain, and knows City may have to be patient against the struggling Lions.

'I think as a team now we look a lot stronger, solid and we're performing a lot better in the last couple of weeks,' the former Blackburn defender said.

'We tried to play attacking football but then we noticed they (other teams) wanted to sit back and play counter-attack so we've learned a lot from the start of the season to now, so we're a different team.

'If they (Millwall) come and sit back, that's what we've been practising in training, how to break teams down.

'So if they do that hopefully we're ready for it and hopefully we can get three points.'
