King's Lynn Town have added former Norwich City academy prospect Cameron King to their squad as Ian Culverhouse gears up for a Southern Premier Division promotion push.

The Linnets reclaimed top spot on Saturday with a 3-0 home win over Dorchester Town and announced ahead of kick-off that the former Scotland Under-21 midfielder had signed.

King was a member of City's 2013 FA Youth Cup winning squad under Neil Adams and went on to make his senior debut for the Canaries, as a late substitute in a League Cup defeat at Shrewsbury in September 2014.

Brought up in East Harling, near Thetford, his 13 years with Norwich came to an end in the summer of 2016. He dropped down to the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League and played for Thetford Town during 2016-17, scoring 16 goals in 45 games.

His search for a move to a higher level took him to League of Ireland side Shamrock Rovers in August, where he made seven appearances before the completion of their season in October.

Now aged 22, the creative midfielder is set to go into Lynn's squad for a trip to Frome Town on Saturday as long as international clearance is received.

King joins fellow Youth Cup winner Cameron Norman under the watch of Canaries legend Culverhouse at The Walks, where former City players Simon Lappin and Ryan Jarvis are also helping mount a push for promotion to the second tier of the non-league pyramid.
