Ivo Pinto's freak car injury will not force Daniel Farke into a panic buy in the closing days of the transfer window.

Norwich City's captain is out of Saturday's Championship trip to Brentford with a knee problem suffered climbing out of his car.

Russell Martin's departure to Rangers on loan leaves City will no recognised full back, but Farke is in no hurry to plug the gap ahead of next week's deadline.

Norwich were heavily touted with Dutch-based Nigerian international Tyronne Ebuehi before he opted to join Benfica, and Farke is content to wait until the summer to find a younger version of his Portuguese warrior.

'Let's say in the mid to long term we have to find a solution for this position but right now we have a good group of lads,' said Farke.

'It is not so easy when you want to bring a player in you are looking for good quality but in January that is really difficult to find.

'Secondly, Ivo is our captain and he is more often than not available to play.

'As the captain he wants to play each and every game so we are searching perhaps more for a younger player in this position who we can develop.

'I am not too concerned.

'We will have solutions for Brentford, maybe not a specialist, but we are not willing to spend too much money for a high quality player who is just there when Ivo has a problem getting out of his car. For that,

'I am happy to go with this for one or two games. It is not like we have a lot of midweek games coming up and we have to rotate the players.'

'Now he can only use his bicycle,' he said. 'He climbed out of his car and made a wrong step and his knee swelled up. There is a little rupture and we were really concerned, but the doctors say he will be okay for next week.

'I would be concerned if it was a long term injury. He handles all the load and training and then his car injures him.

'We know we are a bit weak in terms of our depth in the right full-back position, because we have Ivo and we let Russell go and decided not to replace him.

'We have players who have played there before – Tom Trybull, Alex Tettey, Harrison Reed played once or two this season.

'We can go to a three man defensive situation and maybe use an offensive solution like Marley Watkins.'
