Free-scoring Bradley Johnson is itching for his first taste of the East Anglian derby.

The City midfielder's performances – and two goals – have been instrumental in back-to-back Carrow Road victories for Norwich City in the space of four days.

But Saturday lunchtime at Portman Road is a little different – and Johnson can't wait to experience it.

'I'm excited; I've never played in one,' said Johnson. 'Russ (Martin) and Wes (Hoolahan) tell me it's a great day out and I'm looking forward to it.

'I played in the derby for Leeds against Manchester United. That was the biggest derby I've played in.

'But I've heard a lot about this derby and being in Norwich for three years, I know all about the rivalry with Ipswich.

'Obviously it's an emotional day for the fans and the club, and everyone wants to win.

'But when you step over that line you've got to put all your emotions away and just let your football do the talking.

'I know for a fact our fans will be there and behind us on Saturday, and if we play anywhere near as good as we did on Tuesday, I'm sure we will get the victory.'

Johnson added: 'After the season last year we knew we had to bring that belief back.

'Throughout my time here, the squad have had that belief. But we have to get the fans on our side now and hopefully we can do that.

'We've got two big wins and hopefully we can get a win again on Saturday in the derby.'

Johnson's key goals against Watford and Blackburn were both lovely efforts from outside the box – and almost identical. 'The lads in the changing room and the gaffer saw that as a fluke on Saturday, so I just had to put that right and do it again,' he smiled.

'For me, I probably preferred Saturday's (against Watford) – there was more finesse to that one. Tuesday's, to get it so late on… I thought it would be the winner but then Murph (Josh Murphy) came on and set up Grabbs (Lewis Grabban) for the winner. For me, Saturday's goal felt better.

'I'm delighted with the goals obviously, but the main thing is that we got that win tonight.'
