The Premiership Final brings down the curtain on the 15-a-side rugby union season on Saturday, but for Norfolk there's another fixture in the calendar.

The annual Dardan Security Rugby Sevens and Beer Festival takes place at North Walsham RFC on Sunday, with the action kicking off at 11am.

The event, sponsored for the second time by Norwich-based security specialists, should provide a feast of fast running rugby, with 16 men's teams, six women's and four exhibition touch rugby teams invited to take part.

A full complement of teams is expected, many of whom have competed before, as well as some exciting new entrants, including good representation from Norfolk players and specialist sevens teams from all over the country.

The Dardan Sevens is, for the first time, a local qualifier for the England Rugby national 24 Sevens Series, with the winners competing for a place in the regional play-offs on July 1 at Worcester's Sixways ground, where they will compete for a place in the national finals at Bath Rugby on July 29.

Prior to the men's final, there will be a charity 'boat race' in which all spectators are invited to take part, which will aim to stretch the entire length of the first team team pitch.

The tournament is expected to run all day and finish around 7pm.

Each seven-a-side game will last seven minutes each way.

Games will be played concurrently on three pitches, providing spectators with plenty to see.

The Men's Open Cup finalists will play for The Jill Hambling Cup and a first prize of £750, with the runners-up receiving £250.

The Men's social plate finalists will play for the Vikings Plate and a first prize of £350, with the runners-up receiving £150.

Women's Open shield finalists will play for the George Campbell Shield and a first prize of £350, with the runners-up receiving £150.

North Walsham Rugby Club is situated on Norwich Road, Scottow (NR10 5BU). Entry to the tournament is £5 per person and car parking is free.

Porky Blinders (men's), Sydney Knights (men's plate), Harwich and Dovercourt (women's) and Wymondham Badgers (touch rugby) were the winners last year.
