Lowestoft Town's six game winning streak may have come to an end but manager Ady Gallagher was pleased with the character shown by his players to earn a draw against Folkestone Invicta at Crown Meadow.

Shaun Bammant's 89th-minute strike sealed a 2-2 draw and moved the Blues to within seven points of the play-off place with six games remaining.

'Pleased with the draw, we didn't deserve to win the game to be fair but I'm pleased with the resilience we showed twice to come from a goal down,' the Trawlerboys boss said.

'I don't think we played the football that we've played the last two or three months, I thought we lacked a little bit of quality in our play and we've got to give credit to Folkestone as well, I thought they played particularly well and worked really hard.

'Once you give teams like that something to defend they're hard to break down but we gambled a bit late on, we pushed Ryan (Jarvis) up a bit and changed our shape and I think that was effective. Disappointed with the two goals we conceded but overall happy with the result.'

Bammant's brace took his tally for the season to eight and followed up his late winner at Worthing the previous weekend.

'I never doubted him, Shaun's a good character,' Gallagher continued. 'He's worked particularly hard this year and maybe he's getting the confidence in front of goal that I never doubted he had.

'He's one of the best finishers at the club, for me, and he just needs to swing his leg a few more times and get shots on target and he'll score more goals for us.'

Rory McAuley was unavailable but Frazer Blake-Tracy covered well in an unusual position and the Blues' squad is starting to look far healthier.

'It's nice for me, I haven't that a lot this season,' the Lowestoft chief added. 'But I was able to look at the bench and throw on Rossi Jarvis, Harvey Hodd and Chris Henderson and I've still got Dominic Docherty in there as well who's a good young player and a good prospect as well.

'So it's nice to have that and if we had Rory McAuley available we would have had a full complement on the bench and a full squad available, so it's nice to have that kind of quality – and we needed it.'
