King's Lynn Town will be looking to put successive home defeats behind them when they visit promotion-chasing Slough today - but for manager Ian Culverhouse it is all about focusing on the bigger picture.

The Linnets are stuck firmly in mid-table going into their final five fixtures but those games are of vital importance to the man who took charge in February, with the planning having already started for the 2017-18 campaign.

On-loan Sam Cartwright, Ryan Harnwell and Ryan Lennon all made their league debuts for the Linnets in last week's 1-0 home defeat against Dunstable, and one or two more youngsters might get their chance this afternoon against a side who look pretty secure in the third play-off position.

'Between now and the end of the season people will be going in there and showing me what they can do,' said Culverhouse. 'It is about looking at what we have got, assessing people, and being ready for the start of new season.

'I want to give everyone a chance and if they seize that chance they will tick the right box. It's about making my mind up about what we need, although I have got a rough idea already.

'Of course not everyone will make it. People have already left the football club and there will be more while some will be coming in to complement the group, with the budget dictating what we do on that. It's an important time for me and the players and by the time the season has finished the picture will be a lot clearer.'

Culverhouse will be hoping to see his side bounce back from consecutive home defeats against St Neots and Dunstable, although he had no complaints about their most recent performance at The Walks.

'The lads worked their socks off and I was gutted they conceded such a sloppy goal at the end because they certainly didn't deserve that,' said the Lynn boss, who lost Jordan Yong to a hamstring injury during the game. 'It was just that little bit of quality we were missing at the important moments, that little bit of composure. At the moment we are going through a little bit of a dodgy patch with our quality.'

Lynn have two more away games after today while there are also two home matches to look forward to against Frome and Chesham.
