Honest boss Gary Setchell accepted his portion of blame following King's Lynn Town's Boxing Day reverse at Stamford.

The Linnets' manager conceded he got it wrong by picking the same starting XI that had beaten AFC Fylde so excellently at The Walks on Saturday. And he could only look on in horror as Lynn – who had Ryan Fryatt sent off before half-time – suffered another derby defeat at Kettering Road.

Setchell said after his team's 3-0 loss: 'It was disappointing, especially coming off of Saturday.

'I told the lads in there (dressing room), with 20 minutes to go I said to Neil Fryatt (assistant) 'perhaps I've picked the wrong team today'. Because the subs that came on, Jake Jones, I could have started him, Robert Duffy looked like a new man. He's had a kick up the backside, we've had a couple of good chats, and he was working hard and causing problems.

'Obviously you've got DJ (Dan Jacob) and Sam (Mulready) there, Sam scored (when he came on) Saturday. But I stayed loyal to the boys that done so well on Saturday. And in hindsight that was a mistake because it might have taken a lot out of us on Saturday. I said to the lads that maybe I got it wrong. But we still gave three bad goals away.'

Jon Challinor's brace and a strike from Daniel Lawlor helped Stamford move out of the Evo-Stik Premier Division relegation zone while Lynn slipped to 10th in the 24-team table.
