Great Yarmouth Town withstood a determined Wroxham fightback to complete a quick double over their Norfolk neighbours at The Wellesley last night.

The Bloaters followed up their 3-1 win at Trafford Park in August with a 3-2 home victory - after being three goals to the good at the interval.

Looking to bounce back from the disappointment of a league defeat at Coggeshall and an exit from the FA Vase, the hosts went ahead after just three minutes when Mitch Forbes converted from the penalty spot.

By half-time it was 3-0, with Miles Palmer getting the third - but it was a different story in the second half.

Wroxham got themselves back in the game when Ross Gilfedder pulled one back just after the interval and the comeback was really on when Sam Pledger made it 3-2 on 77 minutes - but the Bloaters held on to their narrow advantage.

Gorleston twiced conjured up swift equalisers to come away from Walsham le Willows with a hard-earned 2-2 draw.

The Greens fell behind in the 10th minute but got back on level terms in their next attack through Mitch McKay. It stayed 1-1 until 12 minutes from time when the hosts got their noses back in front again but Gorleston had the final say four minutes later through Peter Lambert.

Kirkley & Pakefield face the first of two big home tests today when they welcome second placed Coggeshall Town to Walmer Road.

The Royals also have a tough encounter with leaders Felixstowe & Walton coming up next Friday, but they will go into the games in good spirits, having beaten Thetford Town 2-1 in midweek to record only their second league win of the season.

'These are games that we are really looking forward to,' said Royals' boss Mark Willis. 'It won't be a case of thinking 'let's just go out there and give it a go'. They are both games we will be looking to take something from, even though we know we will be up against two very good teams.'

Elsewhere Thetford will be looking to put a disappointing run of results behind them at Godmanchester while Fakenham, who have Neil Jarvis in temporary charge, travel to FC Clacton looking to build on a gutsy 0-0 draw with Long Melford.
