Diss, from the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division, were held to a 0-0 draw at home by Anglian Combination champions Cromer in the Norfolk Senior Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.

Diss started brightly and Adam Burroughs and Eddie Thompson both went close to netting the opening goal.

Dave Matthews then forced Diss goalkeeper Matty Webster to stretch to keep out a well-struck 20-yard shot.

Webster denied Matthews again before Simon Durrant rattled the Diss crossbar following a free-kick.

Diss stepped up the pace at the start of the second half and Ashley Skeggs had a shot deflected wide.

Cromer continued to threaten and Webster was called upon again to keep out Matt Eves' shot, before Antoni Fawkes beat his marker and drew another good save from the goalkeeper.

Durrant shot wide when well-placed before Diss finished the 90 minutes strongly, with substitute Bruno Tavares bringing an excellent save from Andy Jackson in the Cromer goal.

Tavares then had two further shots deflected off target as Cromer hung on bravely to force the tie into extra-time.

The additional period saw few chances created, although Diss went closest when Peter Lambert won the ball and released Matt Dixon, but his shot from just inside the area hit the bar.

The replay at Cabbell Park is set to be played tonight.

In Saturday's all-Anglian Combination quarter-final, Spixworth edged past Reepham Town 1-0 thanks to a strike from Charlie Bartram.
