The Recreation Ground in Harleston is the place to be in local football today, where the Almary Green Anglian Combination Premier Division title will be decided.

Leaders Spixworth have had to wait patiently for more than 10 days to see whether Harleston would win their two games in hand to take the battle to the final day – and their rivals have held up their side of the bargain.

Winning 2-0 at struggling Cromer moved Adam Gusterson's side to within two points of Spixworth ahead of the two sides meeting tomorrow (2.30pm kick-off) and the trophy being presented after the final whistle.

'Every game we've played since the turn of the year has been high pressure because we knew we couldn't afford to slip up and we've won 18 on the bounce to take it to the last day,' Gusterson said.

'Cromer set up to really try and stop us but we went 2-0 up and they didn't really have a shot as we were quite confident about getting forward and taking no chances at the back.

'We have just got on with it and somehow got it done. The boys have shown so much belief and character to keep the run going. We've had injuries, there was a stag doo which meant we went to Acle without nine first-team players, we had the Senior Cup run (to the semi-finals), so I can't speak highly enough of the mental approach of the boys.'

Joint Spixworth boss Andrew Collison has faced an injury crisis ahead of the game and is set to be without injured 28-goal top scorer Luke Tuttle and facing late fitness tests on fellow experienced strikers Paul Cook and Darren Terrington.

'The boys have been away, they came back from Spain a few days ago, but we had a training session on Wednesday night and the thing I can say about the boys is that they are pretty much self-motivating,' said Collison. 'We've got a lot of experience in there so we basically don't have to do anything because they are keen on training and get on to each other about taking training seriously.'

He added: 'We've had a brilliant season. For us now it's about pushing on to the Thurlow Nunn League and pushing past the First Division as quick as we can to get in the Premier and trying to become one of the biggest clubs in Norfolk.'

Entry to the match will be free.
