Banbury 1 King's Lynn Town 1

King's Lynn Town are still not clear of danger after surrendering a lead at Banbury in the battle for National League North survival.

Jonny Margetts netted his eighth goal in his last eight games to put the Linnets ahead on the stroke of half-time, but the hosts were level on 69 minutes through Ben Beresford.

Lynn boss Adam Lakeland admitted his frustration at seeing his side surrender a lead for the second time in five days - although the draw at Banbury was by no means as devastating as Monday's 4-3 home loss to Scarborough, a game Lynn led 3-0 at half-time.

“I thought the first half in particular lacked any real quality -the only bit of quality really from either side was our goal,” said Lakeland.

“And then for second-half, we played very, very well for 20, 25 minutes, had a lot of possession, lot of control in the game, a few half chances, a big penalty shout and just out of nowhere they've gone and nicked a goal, which is a poor goal for us to give away, right through the middle of the pitch.

“And from there the game just kind of petered out.

“So, frustrating to be in another winning position and not to get three points, but it's another point on the board and we've got to go again.

“That's football. We can't dwell too much on it. It is frustrating, but it is what it is and we've got to move.”

Lynn are now in 16th place in the table, but just two points ahead of Farsley Celtic, who are in the final relegation spot. Banbury's point means they are virtually down - needing wins and a huge swing in goal difference.

Seven teams are in danger of going down - and three points separates them.
