Norwich City Women played out a frustrating 0-0 draw at Ashford Town Ladies on Sunday afternoon.

In a first half where the Tangerines, who will be the visitors for City Women’s Carrow Road date next month, started better than The Yellows, it was Natasha Snelling who had the first real opening chance.

She found herself one-on-one with Sophie Shults, but the Ashford goalkeeper came off the line quickly to smother the ball.

Norwich grew into the game and Mary Croft nearly got her first City goal from a corner, but it was a brilliant save from Shults again.

In the second half City continued their growth in the game and Katie Knights had an almost identical chance to Snellings, but it was the same outcome.

Then Ashford broke on the counter attack and won a penalty. Aimee Duan stepped up and blasted it well wide, not troubling Bryony Williams at all.

Both teams had chances in the later stages but neither team got the edge. It sets the scene nicely for the Carrow Road clash in April.
