The owners of the architecturally fascinating South Lodge, Earlham Cemetery, are looking for tenants to move in after a major refurbishment transforming it into a luxury family home.
The four bedroom house is within the cemetery and its 30 acres of woodland, behind gates which are locked at night and weekends….but you do get a key!
The house, which has stunning Gothic arched windows and twisted chimneys, was snapped up at auction two years ago by a buyer online.
The house had been used for storage and needed a complete refurbishment. The transformation will see a new kitchen with marble work surfaces installed as well as a new bathroom and it is being dressed with chandeliers.
South Lodge was built in 1855-6, one of two similar houses at either end of the cemetery. The superintendents, who looked after the cemetery, lived there with the one in South Lodge recording all Church of England burials and the one in North Lodge recording Non Conformist. It was last lived in in the 1920s.
