A 28-year-old man from west Suffolk has died after a serious crash in Ixworth earlier this week.

Jamie Finlay, 28 and of Green Road in Woolpit, suffered life-threatening injuries when a blue Nissan Navara and a grey BMW 320 crashed on the A1088 at its junction with Thetford Road at around 6.20am on Monday.

Police, ambulance crews and firefighters were called to the scene shortly after the accident happened.

Two men inside the BMW were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries.

It is believed the BMW was travelling away from the A143 towards Honington and the Nissan was driving from Ixworth Thorpe towards Ixworth.

Police were told on Thursday that Mr Finlay had died in hospital.

A second man in his 20s and from the Bury St Edmunds area was also taken to hospital in a serious condition, but he has since been discharged.

A third man, in his 40s and from Brandon, was also hurt but did not require hospital treatment.

Detectives say they would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the crash.
