A weather warning has been issued by the Met Office for strong winds in parts of Norfolk and Waveney.

The yellow warning is in place for southern and eastern parts of the region from 4am until 11.59pm on Saturday due to a spell of 'strong southwesterly winds' and the possibility of flooding.

The storm is likely to be named Brian by the Met Office.

The warning states: 'Some coastal routes and communities are likely to be affected by large waves, with potential for flooding of properties. Some transport disruption is likely across the warning area, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport.

'Short term loss of power and other services is also possible.'

Gusts of 50mph are expected widely within the warning area but there could be wind speeds of 70mph along some exposed costal areas.

The gusts are expected to coincide with high tides which could lead to 'locally dangerous conditions'.
