It looks set to be a day of changeable weather for the Lord Mayor's Celebrations, with scattered, heavy showers forecast throughout the day.

The humidity of this morning will be broken in bursts by showers which could be over in five minutes, or last as long as 35-40 minutes.

These could even bring lightning and thunder with them as the day progresses, however, sunny intervals will occur throughout the day, and the Lord Mayor's procession could be blessed with dryness.

A spokesman for Weatherquest, a private weather analysis company based at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, said: 'Two or three showers may band together to create a longer one.

'They will tend to drift through, but then will come some drier spells.'

Showers are already occurring in Norfolk, Dereham has seen three and Watton one.

Norwich is due to have its first around lunchtime.
