The mother of a woman who was injured in a car accident over the weekend has thanked passers by and the emergency services for helping her out.

Leanne Warnes, 23, was heading to her home in Watton from Norwich to pack her bags for a holiday in France when she was involved in a collision with another car on the B1108 near Hingham.

Although she spent a number of hours in hospital with neck, chest and knee injuries, Miss Warnes, a carer, was able to head out to the south of France as planned.

Her mother Karen Warnes, 47, of Bridle Road, Watton, said: 'I really want to thank the people who stopped and helped her.

'We were on the scene very quickly because we happened to be on the same road heading in the other direction.

'The emergency services were really good; the fire brigade had to cut the other man out, and the recovery man was great.

'He had to block the road to prevent other drivers hitting them and he also helped to keep me calm.

'I've been told the other driver is also out of hospital which is good. Looking at the mess they were both really lucky.

'One pregnant lady stopped and gave Leanne her coat to keep her warm.'
