A run of spring tides are expected tonight, tomorrow and Sunday morning, meaning a number of roads will be flooded as well as areas of beach and saltmarsh not normally covered at high water.

They include the beach road, at Brancaster, where three women were rescued by the RNLI hovercraft after their car became surrounded by the risding tide.

Staithe Lane, at Thornham and car parks at Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Overy Staithe are also liable to flooding.

Geoff Needham, of Hunstanton RNLI, said: Our advice to visitors when visiting local beauty spots in the area, is to check the tide times, as several of the local harbour areas and access roads flood at certain tides.

'Visitors to the coast should also be aware of the tide times when tempting to walk out on to the banks, the tidal current's are strong as the tide turns and soon flood the banks, take care, enjoy the beach, stay safe.'

Two of the lifeboat crew waded to reach the car at Brancaster, on Wednesday night.

There were three peopel in the vehicle - a grandmother her daughter and grand-daughter, on holiday in the area.

As the tide was still rising and entering the vehicle, the crew concerned for the grandmother who was showing signs of distress.

They took the hovercraft off the beach and down to the car where they transferred the three persons on to the hovercraft and brought them back to dry land at the car-park, into the care of the local coastguard.
