People have been warned to be aware of the tides after two men were rescued by the Wells lifeboat last night.
The men had been walking on Scolt Head island, near Brancaster, when they got cut off by the tide and called for help.
Humber coastguard requested the lifeboat to launch at around 9.40pm last night.
The men were picked up and ferried safely back to shore.
Chris Hardy, RNLI operations manager, said: 'This was a routine launch. The weather conditions were benign and no one was in any real danger but it highlights the fact that if you go across a channel at low water you should be aware of the tide.
'This was late evening and, if we hadn't rescued these two people, they would have had to remain on the island until dawn when it was low water again.'
Mr Hardy advised people to be aware of the tides.
'Before setting out across sands at low water, make sure you know when the next high tide is. High water is approximately six and a half hours after low water,' he said.
