A motorcyclist died following a crash on the A47 Acle Straight this morning.

The crash, involving a motorcycle and two lorries, happened just before 7am today, and shortly afterwards there was another crash on the Acle Straight involving three vehicles.

Paramedics were unable to save the man and he died at the scene.

The road was blocked in both directions between the Acle roundabout and Great Yarmouth, and traffic was diverted via the A149 and A1064.

The police spokesman said the first crash happened at about 6.50am.

Three fire crews - from Acle, Sprowston and Great Yarmouth - attended the scene, and one of the crews was still at the incident shortly after 8am.

The second crash happened at about 7.10am and involved two cars and a van.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance service said a 56-year-old woman was taken to the James Paget Hospital with neck and back injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact Norfolk's Serious Collision Investigation Team on 101.

The road reopened at 1pm.
