The final day of the public inquiry about a coastal footpath takes place today.

Government inspector Peter Millman walked along the disputed route yesterday, accompanied by representatives from both sides.

Those who had given evidence to the inquiry were able to explain their points to the inspector and show him sites of interest that had been brought up.

The inspector said: 'The purpose of today is for people to point out to me where some things are that I have been hearing about in evidence.

'I want to know where signs were, where the toilets were and that sort of thing.

'I do not really want to hear new evidence today. I think that everything has come out during the inquiry.'

Snettisham Parish Council claims the path has been used for generations. However, some chalet owners say it is private property and has been clearly signed as such.

Norfolk County Council applied to have the path designated as a public right of way, but there were objections which led to the inquiry.

Today's sessions will see the summing up of both sides' cases with Nigel Farthing speaking for the objectors and John Trevellyan for the supporters of the path.

The session begins today at 10.30am at the Memorial Hall in Snettisham.
