A patriotic poem written to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday has received the royal stamp of approval.

After taking pen to paper John Bush posted his verse to Buckingham Place to mark the special occasion.

Mr Bush was delighted when a thank you letter from the monarch dropped onto the doormat of his Sheringham home. Now he is planning to put to the words to music and record a CD.

Titled Your Majesty at 90, the poem includes the lines: For the subjects of your nation, to witness your coronation, from mother to great grandmother with a family united together.

It is not the first time the Sheringham town councillor has sung the sovereign's praises after composing songs for her golden and diamond jubilees.

Mr Bush, who performed at the Big Picnic in Sheringham for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, said: 'I feel it is my duty to support the Royal Family and was very pleased to receive a letter on behalf of the Queen. I sent CDs of my songs to Buckingham Palace too and have always received a response.

'People say my singing voice is half my age and I am looking forward to performing the poem in public.'

Mr Bush, who runs the JEB Linen Supplies in Sheringham, has recorded a CD for East Anglia Children's Hospices (EACH) featuring one of his songs called Loving Children and the Christmas classic Away in a Manger.

The Beatles and Rolling Stones fan has also raised £1600 for Breast Cancer Care performing 1960s pop and rock classics with wife Valerie.

Copies of the charity CD are available from JEB Linen Supplies on Church Street, Sheringham.
