A second car in 24 hours has got stuck on a Wymondham road which was flooded following heavy rain.

Many parts of Norfolk experienced up to two hours of very wet weather on Sunday morning.

Station Road in Wymondham flooded under the railway bridge, the day after police closed it and firefighters spent three hours pumping out the water.

At lunchtime on Sunday, a motorist became the second to get stuck in the deep water under the railway bridge over the weekend, and police were sent to the scene.

Although flooding is not unusual on this stretch of road, one eyewitness said the water level reached thigh height.

In the previous incident, a crew of firefighters was called out at 5.28pm on Saturday, and helped the man out of the car. He was not believed to be injured.

A spokesman for the fire service said it had received a number of calls about flooding in the Thetford and Harleston areas on Saturday, but in all cases the water had dissipated by the time crews arrived.
