Snail racing is returning to the village of Congham, near King's Lynn on Saturday, July 15 (2pm).
Around 40 molluscs are expected to battle it out for the chance to win a lettuce at the village fete on Grimston Cricket Field.

Cool damp conditions can see them clock up four or five inches a minute on the special course. If it's warm, they slither slower.
Owners can enter more than one snail.

Recent wet weather followed by warmer conditions means there should be plenty about in gardens.
Entry to the fete, which raises funds for St Andrew's church in Congham is free. As well as the racing there will be a host of other attractions on the cricket field, next to Congham Hall. They include live music from the Freewheelers, a hog roast, BBQ, bar, bottle stall, games, teas, cakes and a raffle.
