An ale supporting the Royal Anglian Regiment is set to make its debut at this year's Royal Norfolk Show.

The Royal Norfolks' Ale, billed as a distinctive and full-bodied ale, is brewed by Woodforde's in Woodbastwick.

Rupert Farquharson, managing director, said: 'We felt it was right to honour the fallen from the Norfolk Regiment with this special beer and support the Royal Anglian's,

'Our presence at the show last year was fantastic and one of our busiest yet.

'Our customers raised over £1,000 in 2013 so I really hope this year sees another phenomenal donation, and that the Royal Norfolks' Ale proves popular with our customers.'

The brewery will also be presenting a cheque for £750 to the charity and will donate an extra 3p from every pint of Royal Norfolks' sold at the show.

Brigadier Max Marriner from The Royal Anglian Regiment Association will be sampling the new beer at the stand with Woodforde's during the show.

He said: 'This very generous donation from Woodforde's to The Royal Anglian Regiment Association will be used for the benefit of serving and retired soldiers of the Regiment and their families.

'As a family we look after our own – serving and retired – and see that commitment as an enduring and binding element of our benevolence strategy.

'So, a big thankyou for Woodforde's for helping us achieve this very important aspect of military support to our people.'

Woodforde's will be on 3rd Drive, Avenue 14 during the show.
