Members of the Norwich and Norfolk pub industry donated a cheque for £3,000 to the Licensed Trade Charity this week.

The money raised will support the charity's initiatives to help people in Norfolk who work in, or have worked in, pubs or breweries.

The cheque was presented on Thursday at the Norwich and Norfolk Licensed Victualler's Association annual dinner, first held in 1854. This year it took place at the Unthank Arms in Norwich and saw a cheque presented for fundraising in the past year including an annual charity golf day held in June at Bawburgh Golf Club.

In 2017 the Licensed Trade Charity's support for people from the drinks trade living in Norfolk included over £7,000 of financial help in debt relief, grants and bill payments, and a telephone befriending service to help local people feeling isolated and lonely.

Nick De'Ath, licensee and owner of the Unthank Arms, presented the f cheque to representatives of the Licensed Trade Charity, regional volunteer Thelma Brown and director of marketing and charity services Liz Gaffer.

Mr De-Ath said: 'We were delighted to present a fundraising cheque to the Licensed Trade Charity as it provides such useful personal support to people working in pubs and bars locally and across the whole country'.
