Plans to build flats at a former print works site have been halted after concerns were raised over the nearby residents' right to light.
West Norfolk council's planning committee met this morning to discuss plans to demolish the Witley Press site in Hunstanton to build 16 flats.
But although the plans were recommended for approval, committee members agreed to visit the site after residents of Church Street, opposite the site, raised concerns over the proposed building blocking sunlight from their homes.
Angela Read, speaking on behalf of the residents, said that although the site is an eyesore the development will have a significant effect on daylight and sunlight in their properties. She added that the right to light is protected by law in England and Wales and that residents opposed the density, scale and design of the plans.
Planning committee members agreed to carry out a site visit on Thursday, February 8.
