A thief tricked his way into a house by pretending to have broken down before making off with the homeowners mobile phone.

Police officers from Great Yarmouth CID are appealing for witnesses after a mobile phone was stolen from a property in Stanley Terrace, Middle Market Road, between 12.30am and 12.50am on Friday, September 7.

A man knocked on the door of the property claiming to have broken down and asking to come in and use the phone.

A Norfolk Constabulary spokesman said: 'After spending some time together, the resident went into another room. The offender took this opportunity to steal the victim's Samsung Galaxy mobile phone and flee the scene.'

The offender is described as black, of thin build with black hair and about 6ft tall.
