From fire engines to forklift trucks, high school students across Norfolk have been arriving at their proms in style.

Students from Flegg High School arrived in style sporting teased tresses and spectacular dresses for their prom at Southwood Hall in Freethorpe.

With many girls sporting their fantasy prom dress complete with ruffles and diamante adornment, heels and corsages it was a simple case of a sharp suit for the boys.

And with stretch limousines among the budget-blowing forms of transport much of what was on show was more associated with the celebrity elite, but for one night only.

• A vintage fire engine, a speedboat, jeeps, horses and even a helicopter ensured Fakenham Academy students arrived at their prom in style.

A record 130 students attended the prom at Hunter's Hall, Swanton Morely.

Fakenham Academy principal Matthew Parr-Burman said: 'The students organise every aspect of the prom themselves and, which doesn't happen at many places and, again, they've done a superb job.'

• A glamorous night was held to celebrate the end of the exam period at North Walsham High School.

More than 120 Year 11 students attended the evening at The Old Rectory in Crostwick.

In keeping with Prom tradition, students arrived in a dazzling variety of modes of transport, in a procession which took more than an hour to make its way to the front door of the venue.

Zoe Trevatt – who last year spent her work experience on construction sites in London – arrived on the front of a huge yellow builder's forklift, bedecked with ribbons and bows for the occasion.

Several students drove themselves to the Prom, including Olly Brown, astride a bright red ride-on lawnmower, and Luke Russell, Lewis Cresswell and Josh Webb, who rolled up on three mobility scooters.

22 students took the old-fashioned approach, hiring a 1950s Bedford charabanc for the occasion.

• The sirens were on in Sheringham as the Year 11 prom saw youngsters arrive in fire engines, police vans, tractors and sports cars.

Almost 100 students aged 15 and 16 flocked to the school to celebrate the end of their school year and say goodbye for the summer.

Sheringham High School head boy Gabriel Askew, who travelled to the prom in style in a Range Rover, said the dance floor was filled when the band took to the stage.

• The theme was candy colours and they chose some sweet forms of transport as Reepham High School students celebrated their leavers' prom.

Held in a marquee at Drayton Old Lodge there was a buzz in the air as they arrived in style using every type of vehicle from a black cab to a tractor bucket.

The marquee was pink and purple candy themed brought alive by the balloons courtesy of money raised through selling pancakes and washing cars.

Also adding to the theme, was an over-flowing candy cart supplied by Emm's Stems and to top it all off was a huge chocolate fountain.
