Scores of motorcyclists are expected to turn out for the funeral of a bike-mad grandmother.

Twiggy Holland, nee Alden, 64, from Montgomery Close in Bowthorpe, Norwich, died on November 6 from cancer.

Her husband, David 'Bear' Holland, 68, said between 50 and 200 bikers are expected to take part in a procession from their home to the funeral at Earlham Crematorium on Tuesday November 22.

Mr Holland said: 'It is going to be the biggest bike escort Norwich has ever seen. They are a sign of respect.

'It is going to be standing room only at the funeral. All over Norwich everyone knew Twiggy.'

Mrs Holland was born in Tuckswood, Norwich, but grew up in the city's Heartsease area.

After leaving school she worked in a paint factory and bottling plant in Norwich.

She had two sons and three daughters from two previous marriages and 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs Holland was known as Twiggy because she admired the 1960s model.

She was also called nanny pink by relatives because she sometimes had a pink mohican.

The keen knitter and home decorator met Mr Holland in August 1993 after months of writing to him.

Mr Holland, originally from London, put in a lonely hearts-style advert in the biking magazine Back Street Heroes and his future wife responded.

The pair married at Norwich Register Office on December 1 1993 and spent every day together since then.

Mr Holland said: 'As soon as I met her I knew what a warm-hearted and beautiful person she was. They broke the mould when she was born.'

The motorbike escort starts at 1pm and the funeral starts at 1.30pm.
