A cancer awareness day has brought a splash of colour to an otherwise dreary Monday in Norwich.
Blue Monday is known for being the glummest day of the year, and while the weather may have lived up to its billing, the day was not all doom and gloom.
Pink & Blue Monday saw individuals, offices and shops donning pink and blue to raise awareness of ovarian and prostate cancer.
Around fifty people dressed in pink and blue gathered at The Forum at midday for a photoshoot, however, an evacuation meant the crowd instead had to assemble outside in the rain.
Despite the set back, Ruth Thurston, event organiser, said the day had been a great success.
She said: 'The day has gone brilliantly and it is so nice to see people turning out in this weather. Everyone has been really receptive and keen to help raise awareness of these terrible cancers.'.
The majority of market stalls were also decorated with pink and blue balloons to show their support for the day.
Jake Gower, head chef at French food market stall Jakey Le Bakey, said: 'The market is the heart of the community, so this is the ideal place to club together and support a good cause such as this.'
Ana Bridgman, proprietor of Chilean food market stall Cocina Mia, said: 'Why not support this cause? The council has really got behind it and encouraged us and I think it is great to raise awareness of these horrible diseases.'
The day was part of a broader campaign to raise funds for a research project at the University of East Anglia (UEA) into prostate cancer and a research project at the University of Cambridge into ovarian cancer.
Only 3pc of women are very confident of spotting a symptom of ovarian cancer, while prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, with 47,00 men diagnosed in the UK each year.
Mrs Thurston and Sarah Softley established the not for profit organisation after both of their families were affected by the cancers.

The next fundraiser will be a gala dinner at OPEN on Friday, March 2.
