Former Norwich City and England striker Dion Dublin was guest of honour as the North Walsham Round Table club celebrated 60 years since its formation.

More than 120 guests joined 50 Table members past and present, including 22 chairmen for the anniversary dinner held at Sprowston Manor.

Other guests included the national president and other fellow Tablers from across the region.

The first Round Table was founded in Norwich in 1927 by Louis Marchesi, and from there spread across the UK. In 1950, a group of local North Walsham residents held a series of meetings to start a group in the town. But it was not until February 1953 that the group was officially formed when meetings were held every second and last Thursday of the month.

Sixty years later, this tradition continues with more than 20 local members meeting on a regular basis.

The evening's entertainment included the Taverham Brass Brand who played the theme of the Dambusters to a room of guests flag waving and dancing on chairs. The highlight of the evening was a question and answer session with Dion Dublin.

Current chairman Darren Barker described the event as one of his proudest moments, adding: 'I'm proud to say that we are one of the strongest Tables across the region with three new members joining us this year.

'We've had an amazing year in raising money for the local community, especially with the Santa Sleigh raising over £6,000 for the Ryan Wright appeal. But hosting an evening to celebrate 60 years of the North Walsham table with so many past members and fellow tablers has been a great honour.'
