Walking with the Wounded's festive campaign 'Walking Home For Christmas' will run from December 8-17, but fundraisers are already signing up to support the charity.

Dog-lover Didi Briggs lives in Norwich with working springer spaniel Truffle.

The four-legged fundraiser will be taking part in the challenge by wearing a pedometer for three days, in three different locations.

Didi's family and friends have been entering a sweepstake on how far she will travel over the three days, with a £30 prize to the lucky winner.

Entry is £3, with all proceeds to Walking with the Wounded and all donations are welcome.

Mrs Briggs said: 'We are lucky: we have a home; food to eat; a job; and money to spend on Christmas. Some veterans are not that lucky: they have given themselves for their country and find themselves with nothing.

'They deserve the chance to rebuild their lives, to support themselves and to become contributing members of society.'

And top East Anglian law firm Birketts are among the supporters who get involved year after year.

The company's four offices, in Cambridge, Chelmsford, Ipswich and Norwich, have taken part in the Christmas campaign for the past two years.

In that time they have taken on seven walks, and raised more than £3,000.

And this year the lawyers are donning their walking boots and trekking from Norwich to Wymondham; in a three-hour, nine-mile challenge.

Their walk will take place on Thursday, December 14, when they will be crossing their fingers for dry weather, and encouragement from drivers along the route.

Senior associate, Paul Palik, said: 'We are looking forward to 'Walking Home For Christmas' for the third year running. Not only is it a worthy cause but its also great for team building and a rewarding way to spend time with colleagues.

'Each year we try and go a slightly longer route and have found that our feet don't hurt as much knowing that the funds raised will help the most disadvantaged ex-servicemen and ex-servicewomen move closer to having a home next Christmas.'

They are hoping to raise even more money in 2017.
