Fans of the film Coyote Ugly will know what to expect at the new Kings pub in central Norwich.

The King Street pub reopened yesterday and new manager Laura Bird said its theme was based on the hit US movie from 2000.

That does not mean there will be girls dancing on the bar, as per the film - the ceiling's not high enough - but Miss Bird said the mood and atmosphere would be based on a fun bar.

The 23-year-old former Wymondham High school pupil has been travelling around the world for the past three years, but decided to come home to take on her first job as a front of house pub manager. She has previous experience working as a waitress at Breckland Lodge, off the A11.

She is confident the newly revamped pub, which boasts an impressive outside seating area at the back, will be a success.

There will be a barbecue every weekend and a bar outside and they also have Sky and BT Sports.

She said: 'I'm really excited and cannot wait for it to get going. We have got a good team here with 15 staff. It's a fun bar. 'It's all about people having fun and dancing. We also have two real ales on tap and lots of boutique beer from Belgium.'

The pub won't be open during the day from Monday to Thursday, but they are hoping to get a lot of Norwich City fans visiting on match days.

The pub is owned by Funbars Ltd, which is run by Declan Lohan and Linda Morgan, They said it's been totally refurbished and they have spent a lot of money on it. 'It will be a bar for everyone,' they said.

The pub has been closed since the departure of its previous landlords earlier in the year. They had been the victims of a homophobic attack last December. The pub was originally called the Nags Head, but it has also been known as Tusks and Barrio. It was named Kings in 2002.

The Evening News has been urging people to return to pubs in our Love your Local campaign.
