Eaton Park Miniature Railway is holding its first fund-raising day for the Lord Mayor's charity - the Norwich Integration Partnership - on Monday, August 28 from 1pm-5pm.

Norwich Integration Partnership is made up of the separate charities New Routes, The Bridge Plus+ and English +

These organisations help refugees, asylum seekers, EU nationals and black and ethnic minority people become more integrated across Norfolk.

All proceeds from miniature train ride tickets sold on the day will go towards the partnership.

As well as the rides - which will run every few minutes, weather permitting - other attractions include local steam, electric and internal combustion locos.

Dee Robinson, projects co-ordinator of New Routes, said: 'We are very grateful to Eaton Park Miniature Railway for supporting the work of Norwich Integration Partnership.

'Norwich has a long and proud history of welcoming 'strangers' and of reaping the many benefits of diversity.

'With record numbers of people fleeing war and persecution, it is vital that we recognise our shared humanity and stand together in solidarity to support those who seek safety.'

Eaton Park Miniature Railway is operated by the not-for-profit organisation Norwich and District Society of Model Engineers.

Brian Baker, from the society, said: 'I am delighted that the Lord Mayor has found time to visit us.

'The publicity that such a visit generates enhances the public perception of both organisations, highlighting how small local efforts, such as our local charity donations, work for the greater public good, and hopefully brings, in our case, more passengers so that our donations can increase.'

Society chairman Barry Fane said:

'This is our first day dedicated to the Lord Mayor's fund and we are pleased to welcome the Lord Mayor to cut the ribbon and inaugurate the proceedings.'

The railway already holds a popular Children in Need Day at the end of the season and the Lord Mayor's fund day is set to become a regular fixture.

Alternative arrangements will be made in case of bad weather.
