A memorial drive took place on Saturday in honour of a teenager who died last year when his car came off the road and hit a tree.
The event was held in honour of nineteen-year-old Preston Fulcher in his hometown of North Walsham and invited members of the community to come together and drive a circuit through the town before convening at a local pub for drinks and a barbecue.
It was organised by Preston's close friends, James Rust and Alex Rigby, and all of the money raised is set to go towards the specialist head trauma unit, Headway Norfolk & Waveney.
Organiser and member of a local car enthusiast group, James Rust, said: 'We're really happy with the turnout and there have been a lot of donations. I think Preston would have been really happy with it all. He was a really well known lad around the town.'
Hazel Gale who was a close friend of Preston's family, said: 'Preston would have been awe by all the people here. He'd have absolutely loved it. He was such a lively and lovely person and I'll always have positive memories of him.
'My son, who was good friends with Preston, was even able to take part in the drive in a done up Supra which he and Preston had always dreamed about putting together and then taking it on a road trip to the Lake District.'
Preston was killed on June 26 last year following a car crash on Norwich Road at Westwick. A police car was reported to have been pursuing Preston's Peugeot before the early-morning crash and his death prompted a pre-inquest review, as well as an investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).
In the accident he sustained serious head trauma which is believed to have been the main cause of his death.
This prompted the organisers of the memorial ride to donate all the money they raised to Headway. David Williams, commercial director of the charity's Norfolk & Waveney branch attended the memorial to thank the community for their fundraising.
'I really want to thank the community for all of their support. A higher percentage of the people we treat who are affected by head injuries are young men, some around Preston's age. Each year 5,000 people in the county are affected by head injuries and we offer support to them, as well as to their families.'
