An elderly man had to be cut free from the wreckage of his vehicle following a crash on a rural north Suffolk road this morning (Sunday).
The crash happened on the Southwold Road in Blyford, near Halesworth, at about 8am. It involved a green Honda Civic and a silver Citroën C3.
Police closed the road near the junction of King's Lane while the male driver of one of the vehicles was cut free. He was then taken to hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening. A second man was assessed by paramedics at the scene.
Paramedics and three fire crews from Southwold, Halesworth and Lowestoft South attended the scene at about 8.15am.
A brigade spokesman said: 'Working with the paramedics on scene, the crews extricated one elderly man who was trapped in one vehicle. With the police also in attendance, the firefighters remained on scene while a second gentleman was also assessed by paramedics.'
The scene was cleared by just after 9am, with the fire crews back at base by 9.32am.
