A lifeboat crew came to the rescue of three men whose river boat started to sink at Happisburgh Cart Gap.

The trio had attempted to launch the vessel into the sea just before midday today, but it begun taking on water.

Their plight was spotted by Happisburgh Coast Watch and a lifeboat crew was called to action.

By the time they arrived the riverboat was already in the surf at the water's edge, and the crew geared up to assist them.

Using the station salvage pump they emptied the boat of water, before using a tractor to remove it from the beach.

The lifeboat crew was led by Charlotte Siely, Sean Ferguson, Paul Hayter and Cubitt Siely Jnr. Meanwhile Tim Grimmer, Tony Phenix, Jake Munday, Bob Mann and Mark Defrane assisted on-shore.

The crew of the riverboat were given advice by the station's coastal safety team.
