Five judges will be giving marks out of 10 for each float during this year's Lord Mayor's procession in Norwich.

The five judges will join Lord Mayor of Norwich Ralph Gayton towards the front of the procession before taking their places on St Martins Palace Plain, so that they can get a good look at each float.

Just as last year, although this year's procession has an Olympic theme, the judges will be looking for the floats that demonstrate the most 'carnival spirit',

The judges are:

- Jarrold marketing manager Carole Slaughter.

- David Walker of Norwich Charitable Trusts.

- The BBC's Big Screen producer for Norwich, Becky Betts.

- Richard Renwick from the UK Centre for Carnival Arts.

- Colin Page, a retired police officer who managed traffic for the Lord Mayor's street procession until his retirement last year.

The lord mayor will hold an informal reception for the invited judges and civic guests ahead of the procession beginning with Sheriff of Norwich, John Jennings, at the Annesley House Hotel, in Newmarket Road.

After the procession the lord mayor will make the traditional speech to announce the winner of the procession from the City Hall balcony, at 10.15pm.

The overall winner claims 300, the runner-up 200 and third place 150, with three runners-up each claiming 100.
