Staff from the Sainsbury's store in Hunstanton are celebrating after they raised £2,224 for Comic Relief.

The event took place on Friday, March 24, and was part of Sainsbury's national fundraising campaign which raised £11.6m for those in need. Red Nose Day activities included a book sale, a bake sale and tombola in which customers won various products from the supermarket's shelves. One checkout operator did not speak for over four hours in a sponsored silence.

'Our customers really enjoyed it, we had a lot of fun,' said service manager, Vicky Matkin.

Store manager Mark Lane said: 'I'm really proud that we've been able to contribute to the impressive figure donated from Sainsbury's to Comic Relief.'

Sainsbury's is the official retailer for Red Noses and Red Nose Day merchandise and have been running campaigns since they became official partners to Comic Relief in 1999.
