Help is needed for a beach clean up at Central Beach in Great Yarmouth.

As a thank you, volunteers can enjoy a free trip to the Sea Life Centre. The shoreline tidy up will be on Wednesday, September 13 at 4.30pm.

Senior marine biologist at the Sea Life Centre in Yarmouth, Darren Gook said: 'Debris on our beaches is a problem, much of it ends up in the sea where it can become a serious hazard for marine life.

'Plastic bags are a serious problem for sea turtles, for example they can mistake them for jellyfish and swallow them. Discarded fishing line, netting and even plastic rings you get around packs of beer can end up stuck around the limbs or seck of seals and can cause them serious injuries.'

The meeting point on the day is outside on the restaurant patio at the centre. Sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing should be worn. Contact Maxine Culleton on 01493 330631 to register or just turn up on the day.
