Accolades went to Carol Manson from Mundesley Medical Centre, who was named practice nurse of the year, Laura Holder of Ludham and Stalham Green surgeries, who won practice manager of the year, and Market Surgery, at Aylsham, which won the practice team of the year award.

The judging panel, which is made up of GPs and lay members, said they chose Ms Manson for her 'extensive extra-curricular learning and specialist skills', which provided a 'comprehensive service' to patients.

Ms Manson, whose nomination was supported by endorsements from patients and colleagues, was praised for her commitment to her job, with a fellow team member saying she was 'an inspiration' to work with.

Ludham and Stalham Green Surgery practice manager Laura Holder was praised by the judges for her commitment and enthusiasm, which they said was particularly evident in the lead-up to a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection which resulted in the practice receiving an 'outstanding' classification.

Practice senior partner Dr Colin Sale said Ms Holder was an 'extraordinary' practice manager who richly deserved to win the award.

He added: 'Laura's dedication, efficiency and skills are second to none and, since joining us, she has managed to strengthen and support all the best features of the practice.'

Practice team of the year winners Market Surgery, at Aylsham, were lauded for their commitment to patient care, with judges highlighting the surgery's palliative care team, who worked closely with other healthcare professionals and ensured patients were given a choice about their treatment.

The practice, which received an 'outstanding' CQC rating for effectively caring for patients, has also offered training to reception staff to enable them to help patients and carers.

Market Surgery assistant practice manager Rachel Clarke said the team was 'thrilled' to receive the award.

She added: 'We really are honoured, especially as it involves the whole practice and, because the awards cover the whole of East Anglia, it is a real accolade.'
